25 - 27 September 2013: 83th German Archives Day in Saarbrücken (D)

The conference “Archives without borders. Archival description and access in the European and international context” will discuss various topics like local sources in international archives, cooperation between cultural heritage institutions and networked access to archival information.

The conference language is German.

Kerstin Arnold and Susanne Waidmann will hold a presentation about “Possibilities of visualisation and research of archival material within its sociohistorical context”. The idea of using the archival standard EAC-CPF for the Archives Portal Europe will be an important part of this topic.
The presentation will be held in Section 4 of the program at 5 pm on Thursday, 26 September.

Silke Jagodzinski will talk about “Archives and Digital Humanities”. The focus will be put on the relation between both areas in Germany and how they can benefit from each other’s ideas and experiences.
The presentation will be held in Section 3 of the program at 5 pm on Thursday, 26 September.

Also, on Friday, 27 September 2013, from 2 till 6 pm, a workshop led by the whole APEx team from the Bundesarchiv, will take place for archivists who are interested in delivering their data to archival portals, especially the Archives Portal Europe. A few places for this workshop are still available (though for members of VdA, the Association of German Archivists, only).

The 83th German Archives Day is organised by the Association of German Archivists e.V. and further information including registration for the conference can be found on the conference website (in German).
