The session 103 "Archives Without Walls: The Value of Networks, Consortia, and Aggregations" at the annual meeting of the Society of American Archivist (SAA) assembled a panel of 11 representatives of consortia providing access to archival material based on EAD. Among those the Archives Hub in the United Kingdom as national as well as the Archives Portal Europe as international examples. In 5 minutes per speaker, the respective projects were presented and ongoing and new challenges were highlighted leading to a lively round of questions and answers following the presentations. Topics covered questions of governance, bridging the digital divide, community engagement in terms of providers as users and in terms of end-user engagement, open data and the question of what lies beyond granting access.

Some of these questions also were taken to the informal meeting of EAD consortia at the "Brown Bag Lunch" afterwards, that has now been held for the third time in context of the SAA's annual meetings.
