On 9 July 2013, Angelika Menne-Haritz who is the APEx Scientific Coordinator gave a presentation at the conference "Public History of the Holocaust - Historical research in the digital age".


The event was co-organised by the projects DARIAH, EHRI and TextGrid and took place at the Jewish Museum in Berlin. In her presentation Angelika Menne-Haritz emphasised the importance of trustworthiness and reliability of especially archival information presented on the Internet and illustrated some professional strategies to ensure these with the example of the Archives Portal Europe. The second half of 2013 starts off with a new record for the Archives Portal Europe: we have just crossed the line of 100 content providers. Per today 104 archival institutions from 15 European countries published their archival descriptions in the portal. Users can search for 24 338 798 descriptive units and 40 290 342 digital objects at once. The Archives Portal Europe is available in 23 languages and contains, besides the descriptions of archival materials, service information about the archives themselves.

Programme update for APEx conference "Building infrastructures for archives in a digital world":

A presentation by Wim van Dongen of the National Archives of the Netherlands entitled: 'The Archives Portal Europe: a general introduction and an outlook on its future' will take place from 14.30 - 15.30 in the Davis Theatre in the Arts Building in Trinity College Dublin on Wednesday 26 June next and is open to all delegates who have registered for the APEx conference.

Just recently a brand new Institution Managers handbook in Dutch has been released. It is fully up-to-date, documenting the complete current workflow for Institution Managers to publish their data in the Archives Portal Europe. This includes creating an EAG2012 file and a Holding Guide via the DPT (v1.2.13).
